Mark Jefferies shares update as Jamie Lynn Spears quits I'm A Celeb

Jamie Lynn Spears has quit this year's series of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

A spokesperson for I'm A Celeb said: "Jamie Lynn Spears has left I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! on medical grounds. She's been a fantastic campmate who has triumphed at trials and bonded well with her fellow celebrities." Her fellow campmates are now aware that she will not be returning to the camp.

Sources on the show said Jamie Lynn's exit was linked to her missing her family. One said: "She has been struggling physically and mentally for some time. If you look back even last week this is not a complete surprise by any means." Having walked away from the show on Wednesday, the singer and actress becomes the second celebrity to quit this season.

Prior to Jamie's exit, she had raised concerns that she was ready to quit. During Tuesday night's episode, she became increasingly upset when Sam Thompson likened her to the boy who cried wolf. Speaking to Sam, Jamie said: "I hate it here so much, I hate it here so much, I hate it here so much. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it here. This place is where people go to have the worst days of their lives. Dear God, please help me to make it. I think I've got to leave, I think I've got to leave."

Made In Chelsea star Sam responded that she was "the girl who cried wolf." Enraged by his comments, the star hit back saying: "I'm not the girl who cried wolf, I'm speaking honestly about my emotions." Sam hit back adding: "You're never leaving, you're going to be here longer than we are." But Jamie Lynn was not impressed as she quipped: "I'm not crying wolf, I mean it every single time I say I want to leave!"

Last night, viewers saw Jamie Lynn burst into tears over a piece of chocolate. The camp had failed to win their luxury items but did manage to get a bar of chocolate which they shared. Fred Sirieix served them all their allocated chocolate in his apron.

Josie Gibson chose to save hers, saying: "I’m going to have chocolate rice.” Tony Bellew in the Bush Telegraph said: “Save it? My backside hasn't been this thin for a long while!" Around the time of the chocolate, Jamie Lynn took herself away from camp to cry, saying she was "so miserable". When she walked back in, fellow campmate Tony checked on her. Tony said: “OK, mate?” Jamie Lynn replied: “I’m fine… I’m just… no, I’m not…

"That little square of chocolate p*****d me off.” Danielle Harold said: “It’s because it gives you a taste of what’s outside…” Jamie Lynn laughed: “I probably should have just let someone eat it. I feel a little better maybe. I just needed to cry.”

Nick Pickard encouraged her: “Have a little cry J.” Jamie Lynn in the Bush Telegraph said: “I just want more chocolate.” In the Bush Telegraph Tony said: “She’s just getting frustrated, she misses her kids. She’s so far away from home. It’s good to just go and ask someone how they’re doing. Just look out for each other. Everyone should have that attitude with everybody.” She was then seen confessing she "hated it" there, and the place was "so awful".

Her decision to quit the programme has thrown the ITV show into chaos as another campmate has threatened to quit on several occasions. Social media influencer Nella Rose was last night exempt from the Bushtucker Trial on medical grounds having been rushed to be seen by medical staff.

Nella, 26, previously said she wouldn't be the first contestant to leave the show which means as two have already quit, she would be the third. Fans have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter to share their views on Nella, with one writing: "Nella Rose will quit #I'mACeleb. I'm calling it." A second added: "No way Nella is doing that trial, she'll defo say I'm A Celeb and quit." Another typed: "Nella going to quit #ImACeleb." "Nella does not look impressed...I still think she's going to quit #ImaCeleb," tweeted a fourth.

Just days before Jamie Lynn's sensational exit, food critic Grace Dent walked from the camp and jetted back to the UK and admitted that she "just wanted to go home." Grace, 50, who had become a shadow of herself looked pale during Sunday's episode of the programme. But on Monday, ITV said: "Unfortunately Grace Dent has left the show on medical grounds. She has been a great campmate and will be missed by her fellow celebrities and viewers alike."

In a statement shared with her campmates, Grace said: "My Dear campmates, I'm so sorry to let you down. I have left the camp for medical reasons. My heart is broken, I have loved and enjoyed getting to know you all. You've held me up and it's been a pleasure being your friend through this experience. Leaving you all at this stage will be one of the saddest things in my life. I love you all. Your friend, Miss Grace Dent."

The younger sister of Britney Spears was one of the original campmates when the ITV show returned for a 23rd series on Sunday night, with the Zoey 101 star struggling with the challenge within days of arriving in camp. Jamie Lynn, 32, broke down in tears several times as she confided to her co-stars that she missed home.

Last week during the show, Jamie Lynn was voted to take on the next Bushtucker Trial amid concerns that she might quit the show due to missing her two young children back home in the States. Earlier in the episode, she confessed to campmates Sam Thompson and former EastEnders actress Danielle Harold about feeling emotionally weak.

Danielle tried to encourage her by saying: "You're so strong. This is tough babe, tough. So tough. It's not easy." Jamie Lynn was visibly upset, responding to Danielle's words with: "Why am I crying so much? Josie [Gibson] has a baby at home..." Sam, a former Made In Chelsea star, tried to comfort her, saying: "It's important to remember you've come from a whole different continent, you don't know anyone here, it's hard. It's real hard."

Danielle chimed in: "Look at the s*** you've been through in your life, right? This, a little bit of rain in the jungle, nothing." Jamie Lynn retorted: "But at least all that s*** I could go home to my babies every night, you know? That's it, that's all I need in life. It feels a little bit overwhelming. They're not even close. I've got to just do it. I don't know why I'm being such a baby."
