Can I Freeze Steak Pie?

If you wish to save the pie filling for another day, freezing it is a simple process.

Simply cool the pie filling quickly, within 2 hours after cooking before transferring to a freezer-safe container and freezing.

Allow the pie filling to thaw overnight in the refrigerator before re-heating in the microwave or a saucepan on the stovetop, taking care to bring it to a minimum temperature of 75C and stirring constantly to avoid uneven heating.

FAQs

Does the alcohol cook out of Guinness pie? ›

And yes, there is Guinness, but all the alcohol cooks off, leaving behind fabulous malty flavour.

Why is my steak pie chewy? ›

Cooking Method: Overcooking can cause the steak to lose its moisture, making it dry and chewy. Conversely, undercooking can make certain cuts feel tough. Aging Process: Steaks that are not properly aged can be less tender. At Heartstone Farm, our grass-fed beef is aged 14 days for optimal tenderness.

How do you thicken steak pie filling? ›

What does Guinness do to meat? ›

Guinness Stout or Extra Stout produces a dark, rich, flavorful sauce for your marinade that is also an effective meat tenderizer. How to make a steak pie without a soggy bottom? ›

A metal pie pan placed on a preheated surface will set the bottom crust quickest; once cooked, the liquids from the filling above won't soak in, and as a result: no soggy bottom. What kind of ale is good in steak pie? ›
